The U.S. beauty products market in context
eBay beauty resale does not sit in a vacuum. Skincare, fragrance and haircare ride the same demand as the broader personal-care market and the long shift of retail spending online, so it helps to read the eBay numbers against the macro backdrop.
What this means for sellers
U.S. health and personal care retail reached $40.5B in July 2026, up 1.1% on the same month a year earlier and still 0.3% short of the $40.6B record set in September 2025. That is a large sector running flat rather than climbing, so the buyer appetite and the returned, overstock and closeout supply behind eBay beauty resale are steady. Whatever moved on this page in September did not come from the sector underneath it.
U.S. online sales reached $330B in the second quarter of 2026, up 12.4% year on year and about 3 times their 2018 level, with the Q4 2025 holiday quarter peaking at $365B. Online is growing more than ten times faster than the health and personal care sector above it, which is the part of this picture that matters for a channel like eBay.
On eBay an estimated 381,968 beauty items sold in the last 30 days, worth $11.46M against 765,989 live listings, a 49.9% sell-through at $29.99 a sale. Units are up 17.4% on August and revenue up 25.4%, on a listing pool that grew only 2.9%, so the category got faster rather than bigger. Every one of the eight segments cleared more quickly than it did last month and the order between them did not move. Beauty is a consumable, so one multi-quantity listing can sell many times inside the window, which is part of why the ratio runs high.
Fragrance is where the speed and the money meet. Perfume clears 72.4% against 51.5% for cream and 39.7% for moisturizer, and it returns about $27 of sales for every live listing against $14 for cream and $10 for moisturizer. The seller table says the same thing from the other direction: perfume-empire and foreverlux took $1.00M between them from 2,237 listings, turning each listing about 14 and 11 times over. What the page does not offer is a clean opening. No segment scores both Low competition and High opportunity, and the two Low competition rows, sunscreen and nails, are the two slowest at 35.9% and 37.3%.

Best Selling Beauty Products on eBay FAQs
Cream, on volume, but the tag is doing a lot of work. An estimated 151,077 items tagged Cream sold in the trailing 30 days for $4.10M, ahead of perfume at 79,548 and $2.99M, and skincare at 61,896. Cream also sits on 293,607 live listings, the deepest shelf on this page, and ZIK scores it High competition and only Medium opportunity. Two cautions before you read the column as a shopping list. The segments are keyword matches rather than clean buckets, so one moisturising cream can be counted under Cream, Skincare and Moisturizer at once, and the eight rows sum to 102.1% of category units. And this page carries no makeup segment: foundation, lipstick and eyeshadow sit on our cosmetics report.
Perfume, at a 72.4% sell-through, well clear of haircare at 52.0%, cream at 51.5% and skincare at 50.8%. The category as a whole clears 49.9%. The floor is sunscreen at 35.9% on 11,898 listings and nails at 37.3% on 2,882. Two things stand out about this window. Every one of the eight segments cleared faster than it did in August, and the order between them did not change at all, which is unusual over a 30 day window. Beauty is also a consumable, so a single multi-quantity listing can sell many times before the window closes. That lifts sell-through here in a way it does not on a category of one-off items.
It sells in volume and clears at a reasonable pace, but it is the crowded end of this page. Skincare moved 61,896 units for $1.90M at $30.71 a sale, clearing 50.8% against 121,911 live listings. Moisturizer sold 53,828 at $25.80 and clears 39.7% on 135,685 listings, and cleanser 20,432 at $26.83 on 49,359. ZIK scores skincare and moisturizer High competition and Low opportunity. Set against that, perfume returns about $27 of sales for every live listing, against $16 for skincare and $10 for moisturizer. Skincare is not a bad business on eBay. It is a shelf where skincare and moisturizer alone hold 257,596 of the category's 765,989 live listings.
None of the eight is a clean opening this window, and it is worth saying so rather than manufacturing one. No segment scores both Low competition and High opportunity. Haircare comes closest: High opportunity, Medium competition, 52.0% clearance on only 34,478 listings, but the whole segment is 17,921 units and $461,628, so it is a niche rather than a base to build on. Perfume is the other High opportunity row and it sits on 109,861 listings. The two Low competition segments, sunscreen and nails, are the two slowest on the page at 35.9% and 37.3%, and between them they sold 5,342 units. Quiet and quick are separate questions here, and they point different ways.
The blended average sold price is $29.99, and the eight segments sit in a narrow band: $19.32 for nails up to $37.64 for perfume, under two times between cheapest and dearest. Individual listings spread much wider. The twelve highest-volume rows run from a $3.49 lip tint to a $42.73 microneedling serum kit, and that kit is the only one of the twelve above $40. Buyer search terms behave the same way, from skincare set at $44.21 a sale down to nail polish at $14.51. So there is not much room to price your way out of a slow shelf, and every dollar figure here is an estimate drawn from sold-listing data.
Two different things could be meant by that, and this data answers only one of them. It does not compare eBay against shop or brand-site prices, so it cannot tell you whether eBay is the cheaper channel. What it does show is that beauty clears well below what eBay sellers ask. Live perfume listings average $104.88 while perfume actually sells at $37.64, a factor of 2.8, the widest gap on this page. Skincare asks $58.22 and realises $30.71. Sunscreen is the closest, asking $30.19 and realising $24.70. A tail of boxed prestige stock priced near boutique level sits unsold and still counts in the asking mean. Price to the sold column.
Because the segments are keyword matches on listing titles, and the word cream catches things that are not beauty. Three of the twelve highest-volume rows this window are not beauty items at all: a whey protein powder in a vanilla cream flavour at 512 units, and two topical analgesic creams at 518 and 299 units. A Rhode lip tint is tagged Other rather than any beauty segment, and permanent hair colour tubes from Alfaparf, Wella and Paul Mitchell land across two different segments. We name these rather than quietly filter them out, because the same tag drives the Cream segment that leads this page on units, so the leading row is the one to read most carefully.
Fragrance specialists, winning on turnover rather than catalogue size. perfume-empire moved 14,448 units for $498,666 from 1,023 live listings, and foreverlux 13,336 units for $504,355 from 1,214. That is roughly 14 and 11 sales per listing, against about one sale for every two listings across the category, which is what a multi-quantity consumable business looks like. gy6store is the odd row: 65 sales and $150,464 from 13 listings, about $2,315 each in a category averaging $29.99, so read it as a bulk or mis-tagged line rather than a model. The top ten sellers hold 0.54% of the live listings and take 13.7% of category revenue.
Perfume and moisturizer are the only two terms ZIK scores High demand here, and both come back High competition, at $37.64 and $25.80 a sale. The rows worth a second look are the two pairing Medium demand with Low competition: vitamin c serum at $23.90 and sunscreen at $24.70. Skincare set carries the highest price of the ten at $44.21 on Low demand and Low competition, and nail polish the lowest at $14.51. Two cautions. All ten terms come back Rising, which is what a short-window velocity signal does when a whole category speeds up, so treat it as directional. And three of the ten prices are identical to their segment rows.
ZIK reads sold-listing data across a trailing 30 days and weighs units, sell-through and competition together rather than ranking on volume alone. That is why cream leads on units with 151,077 sales and still scores only Medium opportunity: it sits on 293,607 live listings. Perfume scores High because 79,548 units, 72.4% clearance and Medium competition all point the same way, while skincare scores Low despite clearing 50.8%, because 121,911 listings is a crowded shelf. This report is scoped to the non-makeup beauty mix, cream, skincare, moisturizer, perfume, cleanser, haircare, sunscreen and nails. Foundation, lipstick and eyeshadow are on the cosmetics report instead.
