What this means for sellers
U.S. electronics and appliance store sales ran at $8.11B in July 2026, up 4.7% on the year but still below the 2022 peak of $8.32B. Specialist electronics retail has been flat to slightly down for four years while the devices themselves kept getting more expensive, which is a good description of demand moving to other channels rather than disappearing.
U.S. online sales reached $330B in the second quarter of 2026, up 12.4% year on year and about 3 times their 2018 level, with the Q4 2025 holiday quarter peaking at $365B. Electronics were the first category to move online at scale and they are still among the most searched, because model numbers and specifications make a device easy to buy without handling it.
On eBay this is the largest category ZIK tracks by revenue: an estimated 2,998,465 items sold in 30 days for $325.08M, against 7,295,585 live listings and a 41.1% sell-through. Cables and chargers supply the volume, 365,886 sales between them, while cameras supply the money at $16.82M. The eight segments cover about 27% of the headline, so read them as the shape of the category rather than the whole of it.
Speed and crowding pull in opposite directions here. Smartwatches are the one clean opening, 74.6% sell-through on 71,233 listings at $83.01 a sale, Low competition and High opportunity. Earbuds and headphones follow at 67.9% and 61.9%. The volume leaders are the worst places to start: cables and chargers sit on 714,475 listings between them, average $22.40 and $27.58, and both score Low opportunity. Cameras take the most revenue on the page and still score Low, against 392,689 rivals.

Best Selling Electronics on eBay FAQs
Cables and chargers, on volume. An estimated 202,260 cables and 163,626 chargers sold in the trailing 30 days, more than any other segment. They are also the two worst-scored segments on the page, both High competition and Low opportunity, because they sit on 714,475 live listings between them and average $22.40 and $27.58 a sale. Cameras took the most money, $16.82M from 142,306 sales at $118.23. This is the largest category ZIK tracks by revenue, $325.08M in the window, so what sells most and what is worth selling are especially far apart here.
The category clears 41.1% of its live listings in 30 days, 2,998,465 sales against 7,295,585 listings. That is a middling rate, and the spread underneath it is what matters. Smartwatches clear 74.6%, earbuds 67.9% and headphones 61.9%. Cameras are slowest at 36.2% and speakers 37.4%, both on very deep listing pools. Small, current, easily described items move fastest; anything where a buyer has to judge condition or compatibility from photographs moves slower. Cables clear 48.1% despite the crowding, because a cable either fits or it does not.
Smartwatches and drones are the only two segments ZIK scores Low competition, and both also score High opportunity. Smartwatches clear 74.6%, the fastest on the page, on 71,233 live listings at $83.01 a sale, and that combination of speed, price and thin supply is the best single reading in the category. Drones are the dearest thing here at $437.17 but tiny, 7,508 sales on 18,246 listings. Among search terms, smart watch and drone with camera are the only two scored Low competition, so the keyword table agrees with the segment table.
Because opportunity is not volume. Cables sold 202,260 units and chargers 163,626, the two biggest numbers on the page, but they compete against 420,244 and 294,231 live listings and average $22.40 and $27.58 a sale. Both score High competition and Low opportunity. Between them they took $9.04M, less than cameras took alone from a third fewer sales. A cable business is a margin and logistics business, not a sourcing one. If the plan is to buy stock and resell it, the volume column is pointing at the wrong end of the table.
The category averages $108.42 a sale. Segments run from cables at $22.40 up to drones at $437.17, about twenty times. Cameras at $118.23 and speakers at $91.43 sit in the middle on the deepest listing pools. Search terms scatter the same way: drone with camera averages $374.68 a sale, bluetooth speaker $98.33, phone charger $10.35. Individual listings stretch wider still, from a $5.22 USB stick to a $499.99 laptop in the same top twelve. Segment averages here tell you almost nothing about a specific listing.
Drones average $437.17 a sale against a mean asking price of $286.63 across live listings. That is unusual but not unique: eleven segments across these thirty report pages show the same inversion. What it means is that the cheap end of the listing pool is not what sells. A drone listing pool contains a lot of spare parts, batteries, props and toy-grade units at low prices; the sales concentrate in complete, current camera drones at the top of the range. When realised price sits above the asking mean, the listings dragging that mean down are the ones sitting still.
This is the richest keyword table in the set: six of the ten terms score High demand, where most categories manage one or two. Usb c cable, wireless earbuds, security camera, bluetooth speaker, phone charger and hdmi cable all read High. The catch is that five of those six carry Medium competition and bluetooth speaker carries High. The two Low competition terms are smart watch at $41.84 a sale and drone with camera at $374.68, and both score Medium demand. That pairing, real demand against thin competition, is the useful corner of this table.
This data cannot answer that directly and it is worth saying so. ZIK's sold-listing figures for this window do not separate new from used or refurbished, so nothing here isolates a refurbished phone from a sealed one. What the seller table shows is that condition-led businesses are competitive at the top: itsworthmore, a trade-in and refurbishment operation, took $4.94M from 7,613 sales at about $649 each, ahead of verizon and just behind acer. Refurbished stock clearly sells at scale here. What it earns against new stock, this window cannot tell you.
Three completely different businesses sit in the top ten. vipoutlet moved 104,301 units for $12.61M across 21,803 live listings, about $121 a sale. best_buy took slightly more money, $12.70M, from a quarter of the sales at about $491 each. acer took $7.36M from only 585 listings, roughly $619 a sale, selling its own stock direct. Then there is lavafire.of.hawaii: 60 sales, $3.09M, about $51,431 each from 29 listings, the highest revenue per sale of any seller on any of these thirty pages.
ZIK weighs units sold, sell-through and competition together rather than ranking on volume alone. That is why cables lead on units with 202,260 sales and still score Low opportunity, while smartwatches sell a quarter as many and score High: cables compete against 420,244 live listings, smartwatches against 71,233. Cameras make the point from the revenue side, taking the most money on the page at $16.82M and still scoring Low opportunity against 392,689 rival listings. Every figure comes from ZIK's own marketplace data for the trailing 30 days.
