What this means for sellers
U.S. motor vehicle and parts dealer sales reached $141.4B in July 2026, up 1.9% on last year and 1.8% below June's record, so the sector behind this category is holding at a high level rather than still climbing.
U.S. online sales reached $330B in the second quarter of 2026, up 12.4% year on year and about 3 times their 2018 level, with the Q4 2025 holiday quarter peaking at $365B. More of that repair and upgrade spending keeps moving to resale channels like eBay.
On eBay the category is deep and slow-moving: an estimated 100,382 parts sold in 30 days against 643,143 live listings, a 15.6% sell-through. The spread underneath is the widest of any category here, from wheels at 45.2% down to engine parts at 5.6%. These figures now exclude bike, motorcycle, boat and trailer parts, which eBay files under the same Parts and Accessories category but are not car parts, and which accounted for about 15% of what this page previously reported.
Volume and margin sit in different places. Ten of the twelve highest-volume listings are cheap LED bulbs, decoders and load resistors, eight of them under $16, while the dearest segment is suspension at $103.81 a sale on only 754 units. The sellers split the same way: mdlautopartsuk moved the most units at 4,215 for about $52 each, while bragan-x took more money from a quarter of the sales at $218 each. Listing count is what tells the two models apart.

Best Selling Car Parts on eBay FAQs
Brakes, on volume. An estimated 10,813 brake parts sold in the trailing 30 days, more than any other segment, worth $448,692. Filters follow at 5,841 and wheels at 4,149. But brakes also carry the largest listing pool on the page at 52,549, clear only 20.6%, and ZIK rates them High competition and Low opportunity. Wheels sold fewer units against 21,503 listings and cleared 45.2%, the fastest of the eight. The segment selling most is not the segment with the most room left in it. Read the sell-through column before the units column.
Wheels, at 45.2% sell-through, then mirrors at 35.4%. Both score High opportunity. The bottom of the table is engine parts at 5.6% and bumpers at 9.8%. That is an eight-fold spread between the fastest and slowest segment, wider than most categories ZIK tracks. The pattern is partly physical: wheels and mirrors are common wear-and-damage replacements with clear fitment, while engine parts are specific to a model and year, so each listing addresses a much smaller pool of buyers. Wheels and mirrors are also the two segments ZIK scores High opportunity, so the speed reading and the opportunity score agree here, which is not true further down the table.
Oversupply against narrow fitment. Engine parts carry 36,331 live listings, second only to brakes, yet only 2,046 sold in the window. That is a 5.6% sell-through, the slowest of the eight segments and roughly a third of the 15.6% the category manages. Engine components tend to fit one model and year range, so a listing that looks broad is actually competing for a small, specific set of buyers. ZIK scores the segment High competition and Low opportunity, which is the two problems stacked. A broad-looking listing can still be a narrow one.
Suspension is the only segment ZIK scores Low competition and High opportunity together. It clears 13.9% on 5,429 live listings at $103.81 a sale, the highest average price of any segment here. The catch is size: 754 sales in the window, the second smallest on the page, so it will not fill a store. Bumpers are the other Low competition segment, on 6,674 listings, but they clear 9.8% and score only Medium opportunity. Set both against brakes and engine parts, which sit on more than 88,000 listings between them.
The category averages $51.14 a sale. Segments run from wheels at $37.19 up to suspension at $103.81, a spread of under three times, which is tight compared with most categories. Buyer search terms spread much wider: shock absorber averages $148.45 a sale, nearly three times the category figure, while alloy wheels averages $12.00 and car floor mats $16.58. So the money is not evenly spread inside a segment. What a part fetches depends far more on what it is than on which segment it sits in.
Cheap lighting and electrical, overwhelmingly. Ten of the twelve highest-volume listings this window are LED bulbs, headlight decoders, error cancellers, load resistors or xenon replacements, and eight of the twelve price under $16. The top listing sold 562 units at $9.99. The exceptions are a $154.99 LED light bar and two Thermatic fan switches at $70.07 and $85.09. This is worth knowing before reading the volume column as a shopping list: those sellers are not making $51 a sale, they are making a few dollars each on high turnover.
This data cannot answer that directly, and it is worth saying so rather than guessing. ZIK's sold-listing figures for this window do not split new from used, so nothing here separates a salvaged mirror from a boxed one. What the data does show is where demand outruns supply regardless of condition: wheels clear 45.2% and mirrors 35.4%, and both are the parts most often replaced after damage rather than wear. Those are the segments where a used part in good condition competes most directly with a new one.
Two opposite models sit in the same table. mdlautopartsuk moved the most units at 4,215, taking $217,912, about $52 a sale, from 844 live listings. bragan-x sold a quarter of that, 1,128 units, and took $245,786, roughly $218 a sale, from 1,194 listings. yogi24limited leads on revenue with $340,043 from 2,478 sales on only 171 listings, which is high turnover on a very small catalogue. Listing count is what separates them: a big catalogue and a fast one are different businesses. mace_engineering_group sits between them at $182.14 a sale across 1,528 units.
Brake pads and oil filter are the only two terms ZIK scores Medium demand here; everything else comes back Low. Prices vary far more than demand does: shock absorber averages $148.45 a sale and fuel pump $70.75, against $12.00 for alloy wheels. Two terms are worth noting for what they are not doing. Car floor mats and tow hitch both come back Stable rather than Rising, which is unusual on these pages, where the short-window velocity signal often reads Rising across the board. Here it is actually discriminating.
ZIK weighs units sold, sell-through and competition together rather than ranking on volume alone. That is why brakes lead on units with 10,813 sales and still score Low opportunity, while suspension sells 754 and scores High: brakes compete against 52,549 live listings, suspension against 5,429. Engine parts make the point from the other direction, third on listing count and slowest on the page, which earns them Low opportunity too. Every figure comes from ZIK's own marketplace data for the trailing 30 days, and this window excludes bike, motorcycle, boat and trailer parts, which eBay files under the same Parts and Accessories category but are not car parts.
